↓↓ Do you train by heart rate? Or maybe you’re going to try it after watching this video? Let us know in the comments ↓↓
My heart rate was 174 while walking and running on a treadmill is this normal I'm 29 so I'm not sure if it is or not
Please take the tongue pin out. It totally distracts me from the video
Thanks for the very informative video.
I have a few questions…
I am 51 yrs old. I run 5km in the morning (4-5 days a week). My avg pace is 5'30". I don't feel any pain, exhaustion or fatigue during or after the run.
I want to know what should be my average and maximum heart rate during the run.
Can't listen to her with that thing in her tongue! Yuc!k
What advice on RHR and Max HR app inputs could you give to anyone taking a beta-blocker? I'm 52 and have been taking one for over ten years now and my RHR is around 40bpm. My highest recorded heart rate was around 170bpm. I think the beta-blocker is reducing my RHR/Max HR by maybe 15-20bpm. Do I need to take this into consideration?
what apps on apple watch can do this? (notifying you which zones you are on)
I'm new to running and have just completed a 30 minute jog. My heart rate was around 170bpm but my breathing didn't feel laboured and I wasn't fatigued. I'm 26 and am just wondering why it was so high considering I didn't feel tired and wasn't breathing hard. Is it simply a case of my body adjusting to the new exercise? I'd say I'm fairly fit.
Great explanation! I'm having trouble training and keeping my zone training consistent. If I do an "easy" run I literally have to walk. I ran 7 miles fairly easy even though my heart rate was maintained in zone 4 (avg 143 bpm). I live in Colorado(around 5000' elevation), 210lbs, and fairly healthy, this is for training to run a marathon. Started training at the beginning of December 2021. Any advice? To me zone 4 is my "easy" run. I also use the stationary bike to keep a heart raze zone of 3 just so I can get that training in for that zone.
You do a good job explaining what the zones are and how to measure but not why you should do it
What heart rate should I run on a race day such as a marathon, half marathon, 10k, and 5k? It seems to me the sustainable heart rate should slower as the race distance gets longer. But I have never been able to find recommendation on the percentage of max heart rate I should be running at in those race distances.
Nice information
my resting HR is 45 & my highest is 186? is that good?
I have been training using heart rate zones since the summer and have found it highly effective. I now also plan race strategies using them.
I get testings done on a treadmill. As a hockey player the intensity training helps. God speed everyone
When I use treadmill 10 min in 15km speed I got 187heart rate
Very useful video. I've been using the default Max HR based zones for quite some time but have now switched to the HR Reserve based zones and it probably more accurately reflects my level of perceived effort. Since most of my runs are on trails, the elevation profile of the route and the kind of trail conditions mean that pace almost means nothing so HR based training has been my go to. Thanks for the video.
Thank you
Very Helpful info, thanks
I exceeded 200 bpm I'm only 11 so I'm fine don't worry
FYI, I scheduled a V02 max test at my local hospital. It’s $110 USD. My only thought behind doing it is….if I’m going to go through all this effort and training while using heart as a gage of progress I might as well start with an accurate number. I also know it will change over time.
Now I'm wondering in what zone shall I run the parkrun to beat my pb?
Thank you so much for this! My watch is telling me everything is at maximum heart rate when I'm running a just moderate pace. I will use this info to calculate an accurate maximum heart rate.
There is a lot of stuff about running at a low HR which I do a lot, one thing I battle with is getting high into zone 4 or even touching zone 5. What’s a good workout to do to help myself getting into zone 5 please, or just being able to run longer at a high HR for longer?
Background: 31 years old, fairly fit, run between 30-50k a week and cycle roughly 2 hours a week. I can’t get above 172bpm, and even this feels like I’m going to pop.
Zone 3 is the best.
