I absolutely love running and have recently completed the C25K but I’m a really slow runner. I run at a 7.41 pace which is so comfortable I could just keep running on and on however, it takes me around 38mins to run the full 5k, should I concentrate on running faster with a shorter distance or keep my pace and run a further distance?
This is a great question. There are days when I go out and I want to run slow so I intentionally try to stay back a little and I only find that I'm going about 30 seconds or a full minute less per mile and when I run as hard as I can I get that minute back LOL. I feel like I plateaued about a year ago and I just can't seem to get past my personal best.
This is so helpful! I needed to run a mile in gym-I know it is small, but I am not super good at running- so now I know how to keep myself paced a bit!
Anybody out there like me who has been running for years but who can not have a conversation at any pace when running. I can talk when I walk, but I can definitely NOT talk when I am running, no matter how slow..
What if I feel comfortable at a pace but apparently my heart rate is at 80%? Get a new heartrate monitor?
Not sure if this is a good thing to do so please tell me if its wrong (I am a beginner runner), but I always sprint the last minute of my run. Ive found it gives me that motivation to complete it and is a bit more interesting than my usual slow pace.

I ran marathons until age 45 and could easily maintain a sub 8 minute per mile pace. I switched to cycling for about 5 years after meniscus surgery on both knees. I started running again at age 50 and noticed my mile pace was a lot slower. Today my miles pace is mostly above 9m 30 sec, but I just did a 6m 30sec mile TT.

I realized running on a track isn't the best way to prepare for an average 5-10k the hard way. I can do 5k on a track in a little under 25 minutes on a track but I'm so much slower on the road, trail etc. Any tips for this?
For the last park run I did, I ran the first 4km at a consistent pace and then sped up in the last 800-1000m. Cut almost two seconds off my personal best

Can you do videos on breathing techniques while running. I’ve been trying to find my own rhythmic breathing, as in breathing in deeply in rhythm with foot strikes then blowing out hard. I tend to go between two styles. Not sure if they’re a common way of breathing but they seem to work for me and they also keep my mind occupied.
Oh man…I listened to music so much I killed a pair of Jaybird X3s….on a long run in the pouring rain…
I don't know how to breathe properly while running and my legs hurt. A lot. I also do workout videos by fitness blender I think that's what's messing up my legs. What advice would you give?
