Kenny's solo on the live version of 'Bring On The Night/When The World Is Run-in Down' from Sting's live 1985 'Bring On The Night' is epic. But how about just about every Kenny Kirkland solo on Kenny Garrett's 1997 classic 'Songbook'?

Adam, you’re feeding me soul food. Black Codes is probably my favourite jazz album. Kenny moved me with everything I heard him play. I can definitely hear him in Peter’s playing
Being a guitar player, I actually became aware of Kenny Kirkland via Mike Stern who has spoken very highly of him. He’s fantastic.
I think you don’t need the F# his line is just going from A2 to D2. When he was working in my band he and our drummer Kenny Aronoff used to incorporate repeated rhythmic patterns like the phrase that starts on the upbeat and always starts with three eighth notes. You can see him start this in the third bar.
I think it is the rhythm that makes his unique solo style, after all he is playing diatonically he never uses any notes out of the Lydian scale. Kenny is very much missed, he is my daughters Godfather, and He was as nice a person as his playing expresses .
