I do not want a body part of another human placed in me unless I have proof of that individual having given consent. Proof of being a donor, nothing less.
In surgery time,Have need blood or have any life risk???
Worst pain I've ever had this surgery m. C2 thru t1 surgery. I'd rather get run over by a car before I get my back operated on again.
I’m waiting to hear if my 5/6 will be done. I’m so over being in pain.
Has anyone had this surgery and found it a success?
Had this surgery done anterior no problem till taken for posterior and they dropped my head now I’m 2 weeks after surgery and can’t swallow do to accident.
My son is getting ready to have fusions on 3 disc in his neck, he thinks he's going to just get right up after surgery and resune a normal life right after surgery!! I told him NO!! its going to be painful for awhile and you'll have to be careful!! I myself had fusion in my lower back and I couldn't walk for 3 months! The 1st 2 months I stayed in pain!! Will my son really be able to resume his life right after surgery?I am so scared he's going to mess himself up after his fusions!
i am about to have this done as well, seems to be good to go through
I did this 5 years ago and still going strong! Significant relief felt afterall.
Omg im scared im about to have this done im scared now….
I had no choice to whether I should have this surgery or not. I felt I was being electrocuted every five minutes and I felt I had 180 lbs. on my left shoulder holding me down, until I had the surgery. I'm a musician and singer, and I waited so long and kept putting it off because the doctor told me there was a risk in being immobile on my left arm and the possibility of losing my voice. I had really no choice. Either I live in pain for the rest of my life,Or take the chance. Luckily I had the operation and I can still play. My voice has changed, but everyone thinks the operation added more color to it. I'm glad I did it in the long run, although there are some pain issues, but nothing like before. If you need the operation, do it sooner than later! Don't be afraid, just do it.
Will the plate ever be removed once the the bone grows?
Best video for explaining exactly how this procedure goes ahead
Dr Farmer amazing surgeon
at the Hospital for Special
Surgery
repaired my cervical spine
thank you
I'm about to go through this myself next month
So like a week ago I went to the doctor for some results on a neck x ray and she said that my spine was the wrong shape, like it was out instead of in at the neck and she said it could be fixed with an operation, was just wondering if anyone knows what surgery it would be/ the name of it or what it would involve? Thanks
I had this done c4 c5 c6 I have two plates with 8 screws it's been 6 years and doing good
I just had anterior cervical spine surgery C5 6 C6 C7 on November 10 stil in recovery now tomorrow getting bone stimulator to make my bones stronger . I had a great doctor was my third opinion until I decided to do the surgery . Thanks GOD everything is going well .
top calss video!
I throw up
I had the surgery on may 9th and am so much better. I fell on the 14th and worried that I had messed something up inside my neck. My doctor removed that thought by doing a x-ray and everything was still alright. I am on the road to recovery.
It seems not as complex as Lumbar Spine Sx, is it? I had L4-L5s1 Fused, I developed post op Spine infection & PEs, (blood clots). Made it through that. Now they want to Fuse C3-C7 due to Myelopathy. I'm terrified I will get another blood clot or infection & this time not make it. Thanks 4 Posting this video, not as Freaked about the Sx process as much as b4, just my Risk Factors.
I just found out that I must have c3, c4, c5, and c6 taken care of. I was doing good until I looked at the video of what they do. I'm scared but know I need this or I will be paralyzed and I don't want that. I must stay confident that everything will turn out fine and that I will be better afterwards.
I had this surgery in 2008. Best thing I ever did. Tore up the script for pain meds post-surgery because they weren't needed. There's nothing to fear if you do your homework and get a good surgeon. Living pain-free is truly priceless.
I'm scared to Death, Never had General Anesthesia or Major Surgery, matter Fact I'm Allergic to Local Anesthesia, sends me straight into a Full Blown Seizure. My Surgeon said C4, C5, C6, C7 are all 4 Damaged, but C5 & C6 are Putting Pressure on my Spinal Cord. I'm Numb in all 4 Limbs and experiencing Temporary Paralysis. Another Problem, My surgeons are Pressuring my Personal Doctor to release me for Surgery. I'm a Diabetic and my HbA1c is currently a 9.6%, I was a 13.9% 3 months ago. The American Diabetes Association said if my HbA1c is above a 6.0%, this surgery would be a Death Sentence for me, HbA1c of 6.0% or less will give me a 50/50 Chance of Surviving this Surgery. Plus Diabetics are High Risk for Infection and our Healing Times are Triple compared to a Person Without Diabetes. My Pre-OP has been scheduled for March 11th on my Birthday and Could be my Death Day. YES, I'm Scared To Death!!! After this Surgery is Completed, I'll have an Arthroscopic Surgery to my Left Shoulder Rotator Cuff since both my Neck and Shoulder were injured at work the same time.
I am scheduled for a 2 level fusion in about a month. C5-6 & C6-7 – I am very nervous and wondering if I should do it.
Glad I watched this AFTER I had mine done. Explains why my throat still feels a little tight when swallowing. Pain relieved in left arm but pointer finger and inside of thumb still numb. Dr says that may take up to 6 months come back. Hope he is right, it is really annoying.
im thinking of studying to be a neurologist/surgeon like my dad, it is kind of scary to me because of things going wrong but i really wanna study this…
Mine is sept 24th
Can't believe I've had this done, twice! The first surgeon screwed up but the next guy, at Stanford, did a great job. Made all the difference in the world.
Well I think I just talked myself out of having this done………..I was scared BEFORE I watched this …………..I'm scheduled to have this done in a month. Now I'm not so sure
I have cervical stenosis caused by arthritis ,just found out about an hour ago, apparently this isnt a common cause and I am having trouble finding any info on treatment
I had cervical spinal fusion surgery in 2011. I had posterior and anterior c2 thru t2 I was in surgery for 13 1/2 hours.the healing took a really long time but it got rid of my pain.
Barbara I've seen 11 doctors before I found one of the greatest doctors around. Im not sure state or city you live in. I'm from michigan. Also if you are having such a hardtime with your husbands workmans comp. you need to hire a lawyer because they don't want to help as far getting your husband better they want himto go to work. It's unfortunate we go through this things. I hope this helps a little because insurance companies makes a whole lot of money and don't want to pay your husbands health care. Again get the phone call a lawyer who doesn't charge unless you receive something. Best of luck to you and your husband.
I just had this procedure (C5-6) yesterday & was able to go home last night.
While I had a rough night, it was far better to sleep in my own bed than to be at the hospital where my stress level was much higher.
This morning I am doing very well, considering. Im having surgical pains but for the most part I feel pretty good. Of course, time will tell as to how successful the surgery will be to my overall condition.
Im hoping for a major change in my day to day life as I have not known a pain free day in several years.
It will be at least 4 weeks & probably 8 before I go back to work. In the mean time Ill work on building my strength, stamina & improving my diet.
Just had this done too…..and the relief has been pretty incredible. Anyone living in the Northern CA area needing a surgeon for this procedure, just let me know.
